In case of immediate danger: call 112
This site is not an emergency channel and is not monitored around the clock. If you see fire or smoke, call the European emergency number 112 and follow the instructions of the local emergency services.
Reporting a fire or an error
Do you see a dot on the map that is clearly not a wildfire (a factory or a solar farm, for example), or is a fire missing that is major local news? Let us know. Where possible include the place name or coordinates, the date and what you saw or read yourself. Reports like these are the single most effective way the filters improve.
How to send a message
- Via LinkedIn: Jan-Wolter Smit — the fastest route for questions, reports and press enquiries.
- Via the rating panel below the map: you can leave a star rating with a short comment there.
Press and media
Journalists may use the maps and figures with the credit "Wildfires in Europe". For background, an explanation of the satellite sources used or a comment on the current situation, send a message via LinkedIn and you will get a reply as soon as possible.
Emergency services, municipalities and forest management
Do you work for a fire service, municipality or nature management organisation and would you like an area shown differently or more accurately? Get in touch — official information takes priority over the automatic filtering.
